2014 Isms Collaborative Retreat
On January 30th, the Isms Collaborative participated in a retreat. We celebrated the work of long time Isms Collaborative members and and thanked them for their years of commitment and love for this work. We also dialogued about future opportunities for growth and development for the Collaborative. We created an "Epic Tale" in order to have a visual representation of the unique, effective and rich "isms" work done by the Collaborative.
Professional Development Workshop Series
CALPACT is pleased to co-sponsor with the Center for Public Health Practice (CPHP) PH291: The Professional Development Workshop Series: Essential Skills for the Public Health Workforce, at UC Berkeley's School of Public Health. PH291 is a series of skills-based workshops designed to introduce public health professionals and students to specialized skills needed in the public health workplace. These workshops are intended to complement the core curriculum of the School of Public Health (SPH) and are selected based on regular feedback from public health practitioners, faculty and students. Workshop facilitators include consultants, CPHP field supervisors, UC Berkeley Lecturers, and public health practitioners with expertise in the subject. This course is open to all graduate students in the SPH, and undergraduate students and public health professionals are encouraged to attend. To learn more about each workshop and how to register, please visit our Classroom Trainings page.
New Media Training Series
As new media tools become increasingly important for public health education, advocacy, and promotion, CALPACT has implemented a New Media Training Series for California health professionals. By providing opportunities for health professionals to learn how to strategically use new media for public health practice and health care, CALPACT is building the new media literacy of the health workforce and providing the tools for leaders to communicate with and engage diverse communities. The series of new media and social media trainings provide public health/health care professionals and leaders with the new media knowledge and skills they need to advance their missions and support their work to improve the health of communities in California.

Health Communication Matters! Webinar Series
The Health Communication Matters! Webinar Series will help participants in all walks of public health to apply health literacy principles to their everyday communications.
What audiences do you communicate with--consumers, health professionals, disenfranchised communities, your public health peers? Whatever your role in public health, it's likely that you need to communicate effectively. But how do you know your communication is effective? Only about 10 percent of the population is considered "health literate." That leaves the vast majority of us with barriers to understanding the health-related information we read.

It's a simple process of registering through our school - UC Berkeley, School of Public Health - browsing the courses, and getting started!
